Planing a trip to Karimunjawa is easy. You can start by searching for flights or a train to Semarang. From there, you can either take a taxi, grab or a bus for your transport, to get to the city and harbor of Jepara, where you have the choice to take the public ferry or the fast boat. 

To get to Karimunjawa from Bali, Solo, Surabaya, Jogjakarta or Jakarta is also via Semarang and then with a taxi, grab or bus to Jepara.

How to get boat tickets? For the Bahari fast boat tickets, you can buy them online through websites like Direct Ferries or the Express Bahari app. For the slow ferry, you can purchase tickets online through the Ferizy website, and you can take a car or motorbike to Karimunjawa, too. Another option to get Fast Boat Jepara Karimunjawa tickets, is with the help of local guides, and there are options available if you search online on Google.

Be aware that boats are not operating every day. However, on the websites you will find up-to-date schedules, if your children have to pay for a boat ticket and most important you can buy your ticket for a specific date in advance and not need to worry. 

So booking tickets in advance is a must and since last minute availability isn’t always a good bet. Especially on weekends, when it can get crowded, and as a result you may have to wait for the departure on the next day.

And before we forget to let you know. You must pay an entrance fee once you arrive in Karimunjawa to the Officials from the Karimunjawa National Park. For Foreigners this is one time entrance fee of around IDR 150.000

Unfortunately, there a currently no flights or planes available due to the ongoing construction works at the Karimunjawa Airport. So looking for cheap tickets to Karimunjawa doesn’t make much of a sense at the moment, sorry. We will keep you updated about news regarding the airport and flights.

There is only one ATM on the Karimunjawa island, and is located in the city centre near Alun- Alun. However, the ATM may not always work or accept your credit card, so it is advisable to bring enough cash money to cover your expenses on the island.

 
 

 

 

The best time to visit Karimunjawa is during the dry season, which generally runs from April to October, when Karimunjawa weather is sunny, and the sea is calm and clear, making it perfect for outdoor activities such as snorkeling and diving. The peak season is in July and August. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons in April-May or September-November. The wet season, from December to March, can be rainy and windy. However, most of the time and with a bit of luck you will be probably fine and have a great time in Karimunjawa. Yes, there are specific rules and regulations that visitors must follow. The officials will usually charge a fee of around IDR 150,000 for international guest, directly in the harbour. On your adventure, please follow designated trails and paths, only. It is also obligatory of wearing a life jacket and using proper equipment when snorkeling or diving, and disposing of trash properly. It is important to respect the environment and wildlife and leave no trace behind.

Karimunjawa what to do? Karimunjawa is home to several must-visit attractions. Some of the highlights include the stunning beaches such as Tanjung Gelam, Sunset Beach, the awesome Bobby Beach, and the lovely Pantai Alano. You can also visit a turtle conservation center not far from Legon Lele, where you can learn about the conservation efforts and even release baby turtles into the sea. Even you should choose to go with a sharing tour organized by your hotel or one of the operators, occasionally a traditional wooden fishing vessel called a “jukung” or a speedboat may be available depending on your preferences. Renting a boat allows you to visit remote islands, snorkel in pristine waters, and discover hidden beaches. Make sure to negotiate the price and discuss the itinerary with the boat operator in advance. Whatever you do, make sure to take a lot of photos and unforgettable memories.
